West Des Moines Valley Closes Out Iowa Caucus
West Des Moines Valley High School’s Moses Sloven and Jon Langel are the co-champions of this year’s Iowa Caucus at Cedar Rapids Washington High School, having closed out the final round. Mountain View High School’s Nikhil Nag is the champion of the Meadows Invitational, claiming the Meadows Belt after defeating Loyola High School’s Bob Overing in the final round.
Josh Feinzig Wins the Penn Round Robin
Stoneman Douglas High School’s Josh Feinzig is the champion of the 2011 Penn Round Robin. Josh, who was also top speaker, defeated Harrison High School’s Danny DeBois in the final round on a 3-2 decision. (Danny entered the final round as the top-placing debater in terms of ballot count.) Noah Star Wins the New York City Invitational
Lexington High School’s Noah Star is the champion of the forty-first annual New York City Invitational at the Bronx High School of Science. He defeated the reserve champion, Loyola Blakefield High School’s Tom Cameron, in the Hee-Sun Hong Championship Debate on a 5-0 decision. A panel of Matt Dunay, Ryan Davis, Ankur Mandhania, Zack Struver, and Alex Zhang voted negative. Noah received the Richard B. Sodikow Award in honor of his achievement.
Noah had earlier won both the Peter Colavito Award (the top speaker award for the tournament) and the Jonathan Koppell Award (the top speaker award for the Bronx Round Robin). Read more →
