Bronx Achievement Awards Conferred
At this year’s New York City Invitational, four distinguished members of the forensics community — Tom Beck, Fred Robertson, Bro. Kevin Tidd, and Aaron Timmons — were bestowed with Bronx Achievement Awards. These awards honor individuals for contributions to debate community, excellence in debate pedagogy, and/or achievement in debate coaching.
Robertson’s award was presented by Mike Bietz. Tidd’s award was presented by Connor Buckley. Timmons’s award was presented by Kurt Shelton. Beck’s award was presented personally by Jon Cruz. (The first set of Bronx Achievement Awards — conferred in 2005 — were personally presented by the tournament host. As this was the first year with full divisions of the Individual Events, Tom Beck was the first speech coach to receive the award.) Read more →
