NCFL Seeks Topic Ideas
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Catholic Forensic League is seeking topic suggestions for both Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum Debate for use at the 2011 NCFL Grand National Tournament. Suggestions may be general topic areas or include specific suggested language and should be sent to Greg Cunningham no later than Wednesday, January 26, 2011. All submissions will be acknowledged as received.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — VBD is providing coverage from the following tournaments this weekend.
The Crestian (Pine Crest) — Finals: University’s Mike Fried defeated Cypress Bay’s Robbie Steirn on a 5-0 decision.
Churchill Classic (Winston Churchill) — Finals: Strake Jesuit’s Jeremy Dang defeated Salado’s Tyler Sullivan on a 3-2 decision.
Federal Way — Finals: Mercer Island’s Steven Adler defeated Gig Harbor’s Tim Pollard on a 3-0 decision.
Lexington Round Robin — Finals: Needham’s Nate Lintz defeated Loyola Blakefield’s Tom Cameron on a 4-1 decision.
Lexington Winter Invitational — Finals: Hendrick Hudson’s Sophie Ruff defeated Hunter College’s Diana Li on a 2-1 decision.
Minnesota State (MSHSL) — Finals: Lakeville North’s Jayant Tripathy defeated Lakeville South’s Dylan Slinger on a 4-3 decision.
Northwest Round Robin (Eastside Catholic) — Finals: Annie Wright’s Sonia Vora and Mercer Island’s Nick Blanchette were declared co-champions.
Omaha Westside Warrior Invitational — Finals: West Des Moines Valley’s Anna Lyons and Moses Sloven closed out.
Jayant Tripathy is Minnesota State Champion
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Lakeville North High School’s Jayant Tripathy is the Minnesota State High School League State Champion in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, having bested Lakeville South High School’s Dylan Slinger in the final round on a 4-3 decision.
This is only the second time in the 110-year history of the state tournament that two students from the same town faced off for a debate title. Read more →
